This oasis of calm, splendid when its rhododendrons bloom in spring, was built by Christian IV in 1606. The king felt rather hemmed in in the city, so decided to have a home built outside of its boundaries, and this eventually evolved into the castle you see today, Rosenborg Slot. It stands in vast, meticulously maintained grounds. Children love it because of the puppet show.
