The red-brick building of the Rådhuset was completed in 1905 based on Martin Nyrop's design, which was inspired by medieval Danish architecture and in the Renaissance style of northern Italy. Two rooms are given over to the astronomical clock, by Jens Olsen (1872-1945), which gives the sidereal time as well as solar time everywhere in the world. It indicates the trajectory of the planets around the sun and calculates the eclipses of the sun and moon with incredible precision, in the order of within half a second every 300 years!
