This castle was King Frederik II's summer residence. Originally built in the 16C, it was extended in the second half of the 18C for Queen Juliana Maria by the French architect Nicolas Jardin, who converted the castle into a small Louis XVI-style palace. The park contains a tombstone in memory of the legendary Prince Hamlet.
