This traditional fishing village, nowadays one of the busiest fishing ports in North Zealand, is renowned for its spectacular morning market where the fish is auctioned off. The port remains laid-back and is home to multi-coloured boats that bob around next to the modern yachts. The two tastefully decorated little restaurants up the charm stakes of the place. To the west of the village is a path leading to the top of a hill (Gilbjerg Hoved) that overlooks the sea. The philosopher Søren Kierkegaard often came here to meditate and admire the view of the Kattegat and the Swedish coast.
