Odense Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

At first sight, the modern city of Odense may disappoint. However, the carefully restored old quarter is well worth a stroll, and seems almost unchanged since the time that Hans Christian Andersen, author of the famous Fairy Tales, was born here. Located in the middle of the greenest of Denmark's islands, Odense is named after the god Odin. After the murder of King Knud in 1086, the town became a place of pilgrimage, with many monasteries and churches, some of which can still be seen today.
