Møntergården is made up of a superb ensemble of old houses. The porch of the Østerbyesgårda, a fine half-timbered residence dating from 1631, provides access to a roughly paved courtyard lined by 16C-17C aristocratic residences. One of these houses is home to the Bymuseet (town museum), which hosts temporary exhibitions on urban life. To one side, a narrow alleyway, Mønterstræde, is fronted by an array of lopsided houses.
