Three of the island's churches are renowned for the profusion and beauty of their frescoes and because they boast some remarkable examples of 15C narrative paintings. The Elmelunde Master decorated the church of his home village with biblical scenes, including a superb interpretation of the Last Judgement and of Christ in Majesty.
