This island, the second largest in the South Funen Archipelago, is just 30km long and 9km wide. Ærøskøbing, one of the island's three "towns", is a little gem of a place. The majority of the buildings date back to the 17C and the old pharmacy on Vestergade (now the tourist office) is of particular interest. Don't miss the Bottle Ship Museum at 22 Smedegade either. Take a bike ride along the island's main road and you will come across tiny villages, windmills and half-timbered farmhouses.
