Rungstedlund is the birthplace of Karen Blixen, the famous author, whose autobiography entitled Out of Africa was adapted for the cinema in 1985 and became an international success. Her house has been turned into a museum, while remaining more or less as it was while she lived there. Her furniture, as well as drawings, paintings and souvenirs from Africa remain there. The attic houses an exhibition, which retraces her life through photos and objects such as her Corona typewriter.
