This museum in one of the oldest timber buildings alongside the quays shows the harsh existence of a League merchant and his entourage. On the lower floors were the warehouse, workshops and the office where the accounting books and registers of the movements of the ships and transactions were kept. The top floor was a dormitory for employees, often young single men who had come from abroad to learn to trade or a craft. Because of the fire hazard, heating and lighting were forbidden.
