This group of wooden houses in a unique style, with walls built using thick beams, some covered with planks to protect against bad weather, is located below the church and foundry in the old town and dominated by the traditional colours of red and ochre. The two main streets are Kjerkgata, lined with cafés and boutiques selling craftwork, and the more residential Bergmannsgata, with its elegant residences.
