Housed in a former customs warehouse (1833), the Polarmuseet retraces the history of trappers' and explorers' expeditions in the arctic regions. You will see a reconstruction of a trapper's hut. Whales in the 17C, animals for their fur in the 18C, seals from 1700 to the present, bears, muskoxen - many types of hunting are thoroughly recounted. Traps, skis, objects necessary for survival and model ships bring this epic back to life. An entire room is dedicated to Roald Amundsen and his polar expeditions.
