This three-nave basilica with impressive Baroque decoration was built from 1642 to 1659 and reflects the importance of Falun in the 17C. The blue and gold colour scheme dates from restoration undertaken in 1905-1906. The altarpiece and pulpit date from 1669. The marble baptismal font and organ in the gallery both date from 1906. The chancel organ (1982) is the result of a project to reconstruct an ancient organ, built in 1724 by Johan Niclas Cahman, the “father of organ building in Sweden”.
