The Haga district to the south of the Rosenlunds-kanalen is one of the oldest in Göteborg, as you can see from the 17 C Skansen Kronan fortress built to protect the port. Haga was originally the sailors' district, and other working families moved in during the 19 C, when a series of identical houses were built, with a stone ground floor, and two wooden floors above. It was forbidden to build higher because of the fire risk.
