Regional Museum : Michelin's recommendations

This regional museum exhibits a fine collection of painted wall hangings (first floor). These popular, Naïve-style paintings are typical of the region and often depict biblical scenes but the costumes and decors are generally taken from the 18C and 19C. These drapes of material or paper decorated walls and ceilings of peasant houses during festival, especially Christmas. The second-floor exhibition, dedicated to art in the Halland region, includes a number of paintings by the Halmstad group of painters (created in 1929).
