With its exotic silhouette, the Chinese Pavilion is a Swedish version of the Grand Trianon (a Palace of Versailles), which replaced a building erected in 1753 for Queen Louisa Ulrique. Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz designed this Chinese fantasy work between 1763 and 1767. Jean Eric Rehn designed the red, green, yellow and blue rooms embellished with glossed panels, an abundance of decorations and display cabinets containing delicate Chinese objects.
