The Spirit Island has one building, which was originally double, and today houses the Swedish Parliament. To the west is the former Bank of Sweden, a semi-circular building raised up one storey at the back, with a copper façade. It is linked by footbridges to the Parliament itself, and was installed here in 1905. Building work for a car park revealed a section of wall dating from 1530, and so the Museum of medieval Stockholm was installed here.
