The original home of Carl Larsson (1853-1919) is one of the most visited places in Sweden. The Larsson family decorated their house in a style that was highly innovative at the time: the characteristic dark colours of the 19C were replaced by light, warm colours. Karin Larsson created tapestries and embroidery, and designed the furniture for the whole house. Carl Larsson painted murals and portraits of their seven children, seen in a series of watercolours known as House in the Sun.
