Extensive archaeological research has enabled us to gain an understanding of the history of this fort. Traces of three successive colonies dating from between 300 and 1300 were found. A large part of the exterior wall has been reconstructed. You can visit the houses, barns and sheds. Carl Linnaeus, who visited the fort in 1741, deduced that such forts were doubtless a place of refuge for the population before cannon powder was invented. Finds from digs are exhibited in the museum: everyday objects, jewellery and finely chiselled weapons.
