In the distant past this island in Lake Storsjön was used for ritual sacrifices. Accessible via a footbridge or a bridge, you can still see many burial mounds as well as a rune stone, named Frösöstenen. But the main highlights of the island remain three buildings: the Summerhouse of the famous composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (1867-1942); the picturesque Frösö Church (12C) with its idyllic setting; and Frösö Tower (468m), which affords a splendid view over the surrounding countryside, forests and lakes.
