The open-air museum, which includes over 60 constructions, is a living history museum that takes visitors back in time to the 18C and 19C. Actors in costume, animals, crops and well-kept gardens add a note of authenticity. The Jämtland Läns Museum houses the remarkable Överhog-dal Tapestry, dating from the Viking era (800-1000). The piece depicts people, stags, reindeer, dogs, four- and eight-legged horses, trees, boats and houses.
