The name of this village has become synonymous with its glassworks, created in 1898, which produce classically formed crystal objects and coloured curios with original designs. Orrefors was one of the first companies to employ designers and as a result became one of the most famous glassworks in the world. In the early 20C, renowned artists, such as Simon Gate, portraitist and landscape painter, and Edvard Hald, worked with the firm. An exhibition illustrates this period.
