The large Union Estate, south of the lively village of Anse Réunion on the West coast, is located on a former plantation. The vast coconut grove is proof of what an important resource coconuts once were, especially for producing copra oil. Also worth seeing are the pen with giant turtles and a fine colonial house that belongs to the government. You can go horseback riding around the estate all the way to the superb beach at Anse Source d’Argent.
