Le Jardin du Roy was created by French settlers in the 18C for growing spice plants on Mahé Island. The current Jardin du Roi, a reconstruction of the original, is a very pleasant park containing rare species, vanilla and pepper plants, as well as fruit and bamboo trees. Be sure to get a map of the estate before heading out to explore it. Have a refreshing drink afterwards by sampling the delicious punch made from the garden’s produce!
