The granitic island of Mahé calls for superlatives. It is the largest at 154km², the most economically and politically dynamic, the most populous with about 76 000 inhabitants, the tallest with the Morne Seychellois rising to 905m… and, unfairly, the least well-known. The “big island” offers visitors a magnificent coastline washed by iridescent waters, trails winding through a pristine natural environment, and charming fishing villages.
