Book

Walk through the pages of Singapore's own Chinatown history with an honest and revealing glimpse into the colorful past of Chinatown itself and into the lives of the area's earliest residents.
Pay a visit to the Chinatown Heritage Centre and experience the story of Singapore's Chinatown, gaining an understanding of the lives of early migrants as you see the colorful past of the area. Step back into Chinatown's history and learn all about the desperate hopefulness many of the sinkheh (migrants) felt when they risked everything on an arduous journey from various Chinese provinces to the promised land of Singapore. The center's honest look at Chinatown's history even touches on the raw, seedy, underground practices of gambling dens and secret societies.
