Thian Hock Keng Taoist Temple was built starting in 1821 by Chinese immigrants in honour of the sea divinity Ma Zhu Po. Note the mixed British and Chinese influences in the glazed tiles on the roof, the pagoda (1849) and the dragon sentinels.
