This very pretty medieval town occupying a steep peninsula is overlooked by the ramparts of an old castle. Everything converges on the Piazza Tartini, a circular square near the harbour with a statue of violinist Giuseppe Tartini in the centre and period houses all around, including the town hall, which is decorated with the lion of St Mark.
