The Michaelis Collection contains, among others, many works by Flemish Masters such as Ruysdael, Van Dyck and Frans Hals. The Cape Dutch style of Old Town House, the setting for these masterpieces, was inspired by 17C Dutch architecture, and is evident in many South African buildings.
