Oudtshoorn Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This major economic and tourist hub in the Little Karoo is host to a large Afrikaner cultural event held every year, the KKNK. But Oudtshoorn’s wealth has mainly been derived from ostrich farming since the 19C when the feather trade took off. Feathers are still exported all over the world, as are the hides and meat. To find out more about it, head for the CP Nel Museum, then visit one of the Ostrich feather Palaces (built in the “feather era”) and ostrich farms.
