Pella
: Michelin's recommendations
Date palms, red mountains and the Orange River comprise the world of Pella, the South African date capital. The cathedral was built by two missionary fathers who settled here in the late 19C, with the sole help of the Encyclopedia of Industrial Arts. The little museum next door, as well as the mission, recount the history of the village and the multiracial community that settled here. Enjoy the lovely nearby Augrabies Falls and rafting on the river.
