Plettenberg Bay is a very popular seaside resort on the Indian Ocean, where people enjoy a little rest and relaxation on the central beach or on the immense strip of sand stretching past the Keurbooms River lagoon. In addition to water sports, the town offers many other forms of entertainment including dolphin- and whale-watching, seeing the huge Birds of Eden aviaries, going on an elephant ride (elephants still lived in the surrounding forests in the 19C) or an excursion in the Keurbooms River gorge.
