“We, the people of South Africa, hereby proclaim […] : South Africa belongs to all those who live here, Black and White...” So says the Freedom Charter adopted in 1955 by the group of movements opposed to apartheid. For supporting this text, 156 people including Nelson Mandela were accused of high treason. The trial is now the subject of an exhibition presented at Museum Africa, which was opened in 1994 with the aim of telling the unabridged story of South Africa.
