A visit to zwartkoppies Hall, the huge Victorian home of millionaire Sammy Marks (1844-1920), with the original furniture imported from Europe, will take you into the luxurious world of late 19C and early 20C, leaving you with a good idea of the life that was being led here at the time. This self-made man, originally from Lithuania, came to South Africa in 1868 and eventually became a baron of industry and agriculture.
