Lion’s Head, rising up to 669m, and Lion’s Rump, now known as Signal Hill, evoke the shape of a wildcat lying amongst the buildings of Cape Town. An island of greenery in the city, the hillside overlooks the Malay Quarter to the south, where the Noon Gun at the foot of Signal Hill rings out at noon on the dot Monday through Saturday. The path leading up to the top of Lion’s Head provides a magnificent view of the city.
