Union Buildings
: Michelin's recommendations
The Union Buildings, the seat of the South African government built by Sir Herbert Baker, dominate Pretoria and its environs. The imposing buildings, constructed in a semicircular neo-classical style, date from the early 20C. The work was completed in 1913. The East and West Wings signified the two linguistic groups of the time: English and Afrikaans. The buildings are closed to the public, but the site gives you a nice view of the city.
