The Vergelegen estate was founded in 1700 by Willem, son of Simon Van der Stel. Located in the Stellenbosch vineyards, it stretches over the slopes of the Helderberg and has acquired an international reputation for the quality of its wine, especially the reds. The vast estate includes the main house, still magnificently elegant, surrounded by about 100 ha, a herb garden and a French garden. Don’t miss the giant camphor trees, over three hundred years old and designated historic monuments.
