The road between Córdoba and Montoro runs through lush vegetation alongside the Guadalquivir before crossing the river at the El Salto dam. It leads to Adamuz, a pleasant whitewashed village perched on a hill planted with olives and dominated by the church of San Andrés.

The Torre del Reloj, the main civil building in Adamuz, was built in 1566 and has since been thoroughly altered. It was constructed on the orders of the Marquis de El Carpio, a squire from a nearby town on which Adamuz depended.
The Gothic church was built using local red stone, which contrasts with the white walls of the houses in the village. Dating from the late 14C and early 15C, it is a surprisingly restrained edifice. Only the play of volumes in the structure makes up ..
