St James's Church : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
This 16C church stands in the little shopping street of Las Tiendastat is one of the oldest in the town. Its fine Renaissance portal is very much like that of the cathedral, in both its position and the techniques used. Note the superb relief of St James the "Matamore" (Moor killer). The saint's attributes, shells and patriarchal cross decorate the spaces between the columns. Below the church stands a tower with arches on the lower level. Nearby, in Calle Tenor Iribarne, don't miss the old 11C Arab cisterns which used to provide the town's water, if you manage to find them open.
