Bailén : Michelin's recommendations

A typically Andalucian village 23km northeast of Andújar, Bailén owes its fame to the battle of 1808 which saw the defeat of French troops by the Spanish. For Napoleon's brother, Joseph, who was then king of Spain, this marked the beginning of the end. General Castaños, the hero of this historic victory, lies buried in the Iglesia de la Encarnación.
