Situated northeast of Marbella in an area full of citrus orchards, Coín has four churches of note: the 16C San Juan, with its magnificent Baroque altarpiece and fine azulejos, the 15C Santa María de la Encarnación, built over a former mosque whose minaret it retained, San Andrés, with its fine artesonado coffered ceiling, fashioned in the Moorish style, and Santo Cristo de la Veracruz (Christ of the True Cross), belonging to the former monastery of the Trinitarian Order.
