The impressive columns that carve into the sky are the last remains of this 1st century temple, making an arresting sight. The cannelated columns are crowned with a Corinthian capital ; following excavations, the temple, which stood on a podium, would have had a front portico, ten columns on each side of which seven backed on to the cella of the temple where the statue of god would have been. In front of these remains, you can well imagine the splendour of Cordoba in Roman times.
