Espejo Travel guide
Espejo : Michelin's recommendations
Espejo lies 35km southeast of Córdoba in an attractive hilly area planted with olive trees. It rises in tiers up a hillside crowned with an imposing castle belonging to the Dukes of Osuna. This illustrious family, indebted to King Philip II for its title, has provided Spain with a number of statesmen and generals. The charming village is typical of Andalucía with its whitewashed houses, narrow lanes and steep staircases. The delicious local chorizo is justifiably famous.
Tourist attractions Espejo : Things to see and do
The Gothic-style San Bartolomé parish church has been extensively altered inside over the ages. It contains paintings by Pedro Romaña (San Andrés retable) and silverware, including an 18C pyx - a liturgical receptacle.
The imposing 15C castle still belongs to the Dukes of Osuna. Its majestic keep stands high above the village. There are superb views of the Córdoban countryside from the top of the village.
