Founded by John I on the ruins of the former palace of the Moslem kings, this monastery was the headquarters of the Inquisition. The Renaissance façade with its elegant proportions is the work of Vandelvira. The 17C patio has a delicate vaulted gallery, and the upper floor has fine windows. The monastery houses the provincial archives.
