Parish Church of the Assumption : Michelin's recommendations
The parish church was almost completely rebuilt in the 18C. Its delicately worked doorway is by the sculptor Hernán Ruiz I from Sevilla. Its style, characteristic of the 16C, is known as Plateresque, a term that derives from "platero" meaning silversmith, and so by extension is used to describe finely carved decoration. The altarpiece and dome in the chapel of the Sacred Heart are decorated with plasterwork. Some of the statues are by Juan Martínez Montañés (1568-1648), the master of Baroque Andalucian sculpture.
