This whitewashed village, 9km northwest of Vélez Blanco in the Sierra de María, has a Mudéjar, Moorish-inspired parish church, an 18C building known as La Tercia, and an unusual public washery. The 16C hermitage of the Vírgen de la Cabeza is located 3km from here. The Umbría de María visitors' centre provides information on the Sierra de María nature reserve.
