Building on this church, an example of aristocratic Gothic architecture, began in the late 15C. Its baroque tower was completed in 1623. It replaced an earlier church that was built over a former mosque. Do not miss the superb Plateresque retable over the main altar by Roque Boldaque, Juan Bautista Vázquez and Melchor de Turín. With the mystery of the coronation as its main theme, the retable illustrates scenes from the life of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
