The Gothic-Mudéjar Franciscan monastery recalls its historic role in frescoes by Daniel Vázquez Díaz (1930) illustrating the epic voyage by Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus). The church has some fine frescoes in the chapels and a polychrome artesonado (coffered) ceiling. In the cloisters you can see models of the ships used in the voyage of discovery. The large table in the chapter house is believed to be that at which Columbus drew up the plans for his expedition.
