Montefrío
: Michelin's recommendations
Montefrío is one of the most beautiful villages in the western part of Granada province. Its whitewashed houses with their pale tile roofs perch delicately on two hillsides, like small islands in a sea of olive trees. The village occupies an impressive setting at the foot of the Sierra de la Parapanda. Like many places in the region, Montefrío was a stronghold greatly prized by Moors and Christians alike. It only capitulated in 1486 following an attack by the Catholic Monarchs.
