Hidden from the road, Montoro appears suddenly on a hill of reddish earth, the colour of which perfectly complements the town’s white and ochre houses. The Baroque tower of St Bartholomew's church rises impressively above the undulating line of rooftops descending towards the river. A narrow 15C bridge straddles the meander formed around the town by the Guadalquivir.
